Your trike is outfitted with the engine which propels it to considerable speeds. The engine runs on a volatile mixture of gas and air. The latter needs to be purified with the help of the air filter before entering the intake, so as not to foul anything downstream including the carb, injectors, combustion chambers, etc. Reusable air filters require some maintenance in order to provide minimum resistance for the stream of incoming air while serving as a powerful barrier against any and all contaminants. Fortunately, there are plenty of maintenance products on the aftermarket. Special detergents are fairly handy at washing out any and all dust, sand, and dirt from the filtering media.
Spray oils are superb at penetrating the foam or any other media in order to provide additional protection from the smallest particles.
