There are three kinds of final drive commonly used in motorcycles these days. Power to the rear wheel can be transferred by a chain, belt, or driveshaft. The great majority of bikes use a chain – it's relatively inexpensive in production and reliable enough. Motorcycles with a driveshaft have certain advantages and deserve special attention. Also known as “shafties,” these bikes require minimum maintenance of their drive mechanism. Such a construction is extremely reliable and durable but relatively heavy, complex, and costly.

Besides, a driveshaft takes part of torque, which somewhat reduces engine efficiency. These factors narrow the application of shaft drive to mainly large and powerful touring bikes such as the Honda Gold Wing, Kawasaki Concours, and BMW K 1600 GT. Also, you can find it in some three-wheelers. If you've been unlucky enough to break the driveshaft, the cost of repair is likely to be high. But in most cases, the owner of a shaftie just enjoys riding without the need to lubricate or adjust a chain, replace a belt, etc.

For this very reason, many riders prefer shaft-drive bikes to other types of motorcycles. But still, this kind of final drive requires some attention. Manufacturers recommend changing shaft drive oil once in a while, as it gradually loses its properties. In our online catalog, you will find an assortment of motorcycle driveshaft parts and accessories meant for both repair and customizing purposes. The point is, the driveshaft assembly of many bikes is quite industrial-looking, which may create a discordant note with other components adorned with chrome. To right this wrong and help you make your bike look one of a kind, we offer a variety of chrome-finished driveshaft covers manufactured with quality in mind.
