The engine of your trike is the source of heat that is channeled out by the exhaust system. Extreme heat radiated from your bike’s pipes can be unbearable on a hot summer day, and it can potentially burn your legs. However, that is not likely to happen with a heat shield installed. It creates a barrier between the scorching hot pipes and your legs keeping them from being burned. The primary purpose of these guards is to redirect heat away from your thighs and prevent injuries.
Pipe wraps can also potentially add more horsepower by keeping exhaust temps high, which improves scavenging.
