Helmets are the most provocative motorcycle riding gear. The majority of motorcyclists would never ride anywhere without one, but there are others who regard them as nothing more than a government mandated violation of personal liberty. Nevertheless, whether you wear one for protection or because the law says you have to, we’ve got your helmet, from maximum coverage full face models to minimalist beanie helmets, and everything in between. Our helmet selection includes lids for every budget and riding style, as well as a full line of helmet accessories, head gear, eyewear, and the latest in helmet communication systems.
Unless you live in one of the few states with no helmet laws, a helmet will be as much a part of your riding experience as the motorcycle itself, so it makes sense to get a helmet that is comfortable, appropriate for how and where you ride, and has the style you’ll want to be seen in. We have helmets that are perfect for sport bike riding, cruising, touring, adventure touring, and off-road riding, for all size and shape heads including round oval, intermediate oval, and long oval, and in your choice of matte or gloss solid colors, or sensational multi-color designs and graphics. In addition to full face and half shell helmets, we offer modular “flip up”, traditional open face, on/off-road dual sport, and dirt bike helmets. All are DOT (Department of Transportation) certified and completely legal for use on U.S. highways, and some have ECE (European) certification and/or Snell approval.
With their one-piece construction, built-in chin bars and integrated face shields, full face helmets provide the most protection from wind and bugs, and most importantly, impact in the unfortunate case of an accident. Studies have shown that most crash impacts are in the chin bar area, so it’s easy to see the value of a full face helmet. Their enclosed design and aerodynamic shape make full face helmets much quieter than other types, but since most have advanced ventilation systems, you’ll stay cool. Openings at the chin bar and top of the helmet take in air that circulates through the interior and exhausts through vents at the rear, and most openings can be closed so you can be warm in colder weather. Full face helmets generally have more standard and available features like internal retractable sun visors, removable liners, optional face shields including anti-fog Pinlock® lens ready shields, communications system compatibility, and more.
The open face is the classic, old school helmet. If your riding experience isn’t complete without wind in your face and the taste of an occasional insect, then an open face helmet is for you. But while we can set you up with a basic open face, we also offer models that combine vintage looks with modern amenities like external visors, internal retractable sun visors, pivoting external full face shields, removable liners, and some even have vent systems and provisions for communication systems. Half helmets, which some refer to as “beanies”, take the open face concept to the extreme. They’re the most open air riding feel and freedom you can have while remaining legal. But even half shell helmets have evolved from the strictly basic lid with a chin strap. In addition to external visors, some are available with vent systems and drop down internal visors to shield your eyes from the sun, wind and bugs.
Modular helmets, also known as “flip up” helmets because of their flip up chin bars, provide the best of the full face and open face helmet designs. They combine the protection, comfort and noise reduction of a full face (although the hinge mechanism makes them not as strong and as quiet as a full faces’ one-piece construction) with the convenience of an open face. When the chin bar on a modular helmet is flipped up, it’s easy to put on glasses, have a conversation, get a drink, have a smoke, or just get some fresh air when stuck in traffic or at a stoplight. Modular helmets generally have standard and available features similar to a full face, such as removable liners, breath deflectors, internal retractable sun visors, Pinlock® ready face shields, and communication system provisions.
Off road riding, whether you’re racing motocross or just trail riding, is much more strenuous than riding on the street, and is generally done at lower than highway speeds. That’s why dirt bike helmets have an elongated chin bar and much more extensive venting, to let more cooling air in around the rider’s head and face while still providing protection from dirt and debris. The extended, exaggerated peak visor also provides protection from roost, as well as from the sun. Dirt bike helmets are lightweight to reduce fatigue, have large eye ports for easy goggles fitment, and removable, washable liners – very important to prevent smell when you’re sweating on every ride. Dual sport helmets are based on dirt bike helmets but have full face shields more appropriate for street riding. Many have vented visors to allow air to pass through at speed, but since the wind can still catch and be a nuisance on a long trip, some visors can easily be removed.
If your helmet didn’t come with all the features you want, or you want replacement parts, you need look no further than right here. You can upgrade style and functionality with a tinted face shield, available in a range of finishes. Shield fogging in colder weather is an age-old problem, but you’ll have no more visibility issues when your helmet is equipped with a breath deflector, and a face shield with anti-fog coating or a Pinlock® lens. If your helmet’s feeling a lot looser these days than when you bought it, you can restore fit and freshness with our replacement liners and cheek pads, and if you need to make repairs we have replacement face shield pivots, covers and hardware, and replacement visors and peaks. We also have related necessities like helmet hangers, storage bags, and helmet locks, and care products to keep your helmet clean, fresh, and looking good.
Off-road riders and street riders who don’t wear a helmet with a full face shield know the importance of having the right eyewear. We hear you, that’s why our digital shelves are stocked with a huge selection of goggles and glasses with clear and tinted lenses, all designed specifically for motorcycle riders. Plus, we have replacement lenses in various tints, replacement straps, and tear-offs for off-roaders. And there’s no reason to put your bike away when the temperature drops when you shop here. With our balaclavas, masks, bandanas and neck warmers you can continue riding and be warm and stylish at the same time.
For many motorcyclists, riding is an escape from the demands of the everyday world – they don’t want to talk to anybody and the only music they’re interested in is the roar of the engine. But others want to be just as entertained and connected on their bike as they are in the car, or at work or home. If you’re in the latter camp you’ll find everything you need right here to have hands-free phone conversations, stream music, listen to the radio, and have GPS navigation. Most helmets today have provisions for speakers and other communications systems and we have the products to take advantage of these features including speaker kits, microphones, helmet intercom systems, and Bluetooth communication systems that are ideal for group riding.
