Your AIRAID SynthaFlow air filter should remain effective for 30,000 to 50,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. When cleaning is necessary, use only the AIRAID air filter tune-up kit. The AIRAID Cleaning Solution is uniquely formulated to clean without damaging the gauze filter media. Never use gasoline, detergents or parts solvent. The AIRAID Performance Oil forms an additional line of defense against dirt without limiting airflow. Never use transmission fluid, motor oil, diesel fuel or any other type of oil.
To clean, first gently shake off and brush away excess dirt. Then, spray the filter with AIRAID air filter cleaning solution until the filter is thoroughly saturated. Let the filter soak for about 10 minutes. Rinse the filter from the inside out with low-pressure warm water from the tap or a hose until the water runs clear. Do not use high-pressure water or allow the filter to soak.
Let the filter dry naturally. A fan may be used to speed up the process, but do not use heated air blowers, compressed air or open flame.
Finally, when the filter is completely dry, apply AIRAID air filter oil to the top of each filter pleat, and then allow it to set for 20 minutes to wick throughout the filter media. If light spots appear, touch up those areas. The colored dye in the filter oil allows you to easily see where the oil has saturated the filter, eliminating the possibility of over-oiling the filter.
AIRAID® was founded in 1997 when they began developing and manufacturing air intake systems for light trucks and SUVs, utilizing the cotton-gauze filter technology that was available at the time. These systems increased airflow and performance while being easy to install, and sold so well that the company soon realized that another source of filters was necessary. They believed they could produce a better quality filter using new technology and state-of-the-art materials, and so in 2002 the AIRAID Filter Company was formed. Today AIRAID is the recognized leader in air management technology. Extensive research and development has allowed AIRAID to come to market first with high quality products that improve drivability and performance.
