Oxygen sensors are installed in the exhaust system of your motorcycle to measure the amount of O2 in the exhaust gas. The readings are sent to the ECU for it to adjust the air-fuel mixture for the optimal performance of your dirt bike and lower emissions. These components are primarily used on motorcycles outfitted with injection systems. The majority of present-day bikes run on a pre-set gas setting, with minor adjustments occurring with variations on oxygen level changes. For example, if you were to ride your bike high in the mountains, the engine control unit would alter the gasoline volumes with less oxygen in the surrounding atmosphere.
Such units are designed to work by sensing the O2 levels in the waste exhaust gas and variate the voltage output. It is read by the engine computer that alters the fuel volume, thus allowing your bike to run properly, improve fuel mileage, and keep harmful pollutants within pre-set limits.
