Handlebars provide important points of contact between you and your machine while being the major means of control, so you never want to mess with them. The difficulty of choosing the right handlebar is that there are no universal solutions and there are no “good” or “bad” options. The one and only factor is your personal preference – if it feels right, go for it. Whatever your riding style, your height, your motocross/dirt bike seat position, etc., here you'll find the handlebar that is best for you. Check out our inventory packed with products from industry leaders including ProTaper and Renthal.

Installing a different handlebar is an inexpensive upgrade, although, it can make a big difference in control and comfort. Even more so when it comes to motocross, where the wrong bar which is not strong enough can be dangerous. When choosing the new bar, there are several parameters to consider, including material, size (height, width, pullback), bend, and the presence/absence of a crossbar. Motocross handlebars have to be strong while retaining flexibility, so the majority of the bars available today are made from aluminum. For higher strength and corrosion resistance, aluminum handlebars come anodized or shot peened.

The two main sizes available are 7/8"" and 1-1/8"" bars, with the latter often referred to as oversize bars. 7/8"" bars maintain this size throughout the entire length, while 1-1/8"" is the tube diameter in the clamp mount area. So only the center of the oversize bar is of larger diameter, while the rest of the bar gradually gets thinner towards both ends which measure 7/8"". This means that you may stick with stock controls and just buy adapters or a clamp kit to fit the new handlebars. Oversize bars are stronger and are commonly used in motocross. Many choose to convert from the stock steel 7/8"" size handlebars to lightweight and durable oversize aluminum bars for riding on off-road terrain. While the big bars offer the needed strength for hard riding, thinner and lighter ones are more suitable for trail riders who need better maneuverability.

Motocross handlebars are offered in a variety of bend options, and it's entirely up to you to decide which one is going to be most comfortable. Bend measurements include the handlebar’s height, rise, and pullback, also called sweep. Pullback is how much further the handlebars bend back towards you. It all comes down to your riding style, type of terrain, your height, etc. The majority of dirt bike handlebars measure 800mm in width (31.5 inches), while mini race bikes' handlebars are a bit shorter. Most 7/8"" bars come with a crossbar that adds stiffness, while oversize ones may not have it.

You need the bars to be suited to your body type to keep your elbows comfortable through turns. Those who are into off-road riding may want straighter handlebars for better stability, while trail riders need them to feel comfortable in a standing position. Anyway, only you decide which features and shapes constitute the best handlebar. We have a multitude of options from which to choose, ranging from simple to feature-packed ones. Whether you're looking to replace or upgrade your major means of motorcycle control, we have the right handlebars on our digital shelves.
