Piston Ring Set by Namura®. Quality materials mean increased longevity and continued performance. A critical aspect of any rebuild, gaskets are often given little thought. However, the right materials can make all the difference.
Often overlooked and unglamorous, they are an essential part of piston performance, engine efficiency, and durability. The materials used in the manufacturing of piston rings are one of the most critical factors in their performance. Namura’s rings are designed specifically for their application. The type of cylinder sleeve, sleeve coating, size of the engine, and the stroke (2 or 4) all play a role in determining the composition best suited for the operating environment. While it may vary by model, Namura have outlined some of the key features below:
Compression Rings
Composed of either a highly ductile cast iron or stainless steel alloy; both materials possess excellent wear resistance and provide a gastight seal. Chrome, phosphate and nitride coatings are also used to meet the demands of the application.
Oil Rings
Oil rings consist of three separate components. Two scraper rails constructed from highly ductile cast iron or a stainless steel alloy and also have a chrome, nitride, or phosphate coating. The single expansion ring is manufactured from stainless steel.
Namura® Technologies offers a wide variety of pistons, rings, gaskets and bearings for today’s MX, ATV, UTV and Off-Road riders. Namura extensive line-up features applications for Arctic Cat, Can-Am, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Polaris, Suzuki, Yamaha and most other models. By pushing the envelope of conventional standards, Namura strive to provide a superior product using the latest advancements in manufacturing techniques. Keeping that in mind, Namura didn’t want to be an overpriced paperweight supplier. Namura philosophy is simple: deliver superior engine components that have more features than the OEM at a better price.
