Textile Motorcycle Pants

When it comes to equipping yourself with motorcycle riding gear you would probably put on a helmet, jacket, a pair of boots and a pair of gloves. But what about motorcycle pants? Wearing motorcycle pants during your adventures is more important than you may think. Your regular jeans may work well for occasional rides around the neighborhood but they’ll fail to protect you if you’re falling off your motorcycle at 30 miles per hour. Plus, many textile pants feature mesh panels which are usually placed at the shins, thighs, and/or calves to deliver enhanced airflow and ensure you’ll stay dry and sweat-free even on the hottest summer days. And if you want to protect your legs from winter cold, you can choose from a diverse range of textile pants that come with a thermal lining. This lining is sure to effectively trap heat, keeping you warm during the coldest winter months. Thermal lining is removable, so you can easily extend the use of your pants to warmer days. Better still, some thermal linings can even be worn as standalone pants.

Just because the weather takes a turn for the worse, it doesn’t mean you have to put your bike away. Like motorcycle textile jackets, most textile pants feature a waterproof yet breathable membrane that allows the moisture to escape quickly but never lets the water in. You can opt for pants with Gore-Tex membrane which provides the highest level of both water protection and breathability or choose from more affordable options like AquaRes, Hypertex or other proprietary technologies that will also protect you from rain, while providing enough breathability to prevent sweating. For maximum protection, it’s recommended to choose pants that come with waterproof taped seams, waterproof zippers, and waterproof pockets.

Your hips and knees are the most exposed parts of your legs in case of an accident. This is why almost all motorcycle textile pants are reinforced with knee and hip protectors to guarantee superior impact resistance. However, when buying pants, make sure that the armor they have is CE or EN certified/approved. Along with excellent protection, a good pair of textile pants should provide great flexibility and a secure fit.
