There is hardly something more exciting and pleasant than riding on an open road on your favorite motorcycle. The only thing that can cut your trip short is the lack of some supplies, fuel, food, water, and so on. The cargo space in your bike is very limited, even if you ride a large touring model. However, there is a smart solution to the problem. You can always upgrade your machine with one of our motorcycle trailer hitches to be able to tow a cargo or camper trailer, attach an additional cargo or cooler rack, or some other gear-carrying accessory.
Browse our extensive catalog to choose from a wide variety of durable and reliable mo torcycle towing accessories sourced from only reputable manufacturers, such as Rivco, Fat Baggers, Khrome Werks, Show Chrome, Kuryakyn, and many others. We offer open- and hidden-style motorcycle trailer hitches, vertical and horizontal receiver hitches, three-way hitches, rack mounting systems, trailer hitch receiver brackets, CAN-bus modules and signal decoders, wiring harnesses, trailer wire converters, and more. After upgrading your machine with a trailer hitch and purchasing or building a suitable cargo trailer, you can plan long-distance trips without worrying about your load carrying capacity and go on a vacation for a few days.
A typical trailer hitch is designed to be attached to the rear fender brackets that remain completely covered. The visible part of the hitch can be chrome-plated and polished to become an interesting detail of your bike’s exterior giving it a unique, customized look. In most cases, the installation process is fairly simple and can be done in less than an hour or even half an hour with only basic hand tools. If you don’t want to display your motorcycle’s ability to tow a trailer, you can choose a hitch with a quick-detach function. When the receiver is removed, the mount remains hidden under the fender.
For those who want to tow a large cargo trailer or even a small camper, we offer heavy-duty motorcycle trailer hitches with long brackets that can be attached directly to the frame rail at the saddlebag mounting points for additional vertical and horizontal stability. When choosing a trailer hitch, make sure that the preferred part is compatible with the model of your bike. Also, when hooking up a trailer, don’t exceed the gross vehicle weight limit specified by the manufacturer of your motorcycle. In general, a hitch can withstand up to 55 pounds of tongue weight, but we don’t recommend you exceed the 40-pound load limit.
If you are new to motorcycle riding, first, gain your experience without a trailer. Then, practice some time away from public roads to feel the difference. To ensure your safety when towing a trailer behind your motorcycle, keep extra distance between you and other road users since the additional load drastically changes the dynamics and performance of your vehicle. It simply handles differently. Secure the tongue of your trailer with a safety chain so that it cannot detach from the hitch ball while on the move. Remember to leave some slack for cornering. In case you trailer is bouncing or swaying, slow down and stop to prevent an accident. You may have to unload the cargo or secure it better to continue your trip.
