3 Wheel Bike Oil Cooling Systems

Curiously enough, an oil cooler is a rare companion to an internal combustion engine. In the world of cars, you will only find those under the hoods of a few high-performance autos and racing vehicles. In the world of motorcycles, these are quite a bit more spread but still pretty rare. Most bikes rely on the air cooling system, and having just ribs around the cylinders is enough to effectively reduce the motor's temperature unless its performance doesn't exceed certain limits. For more powerful bikes, extra cooling may be very useful and even necessary – that’s what an oil cooler is there for.

This part, however, is typically absent on the vehicles already having the liquid cooling system, simply because the capabilities of such a system tend to be more than sufficient. In most cases, adding a small oil radiator would make the whole construction potentially more vulnerable and problematic. Meanwhile, such a component can be perfectly used with powerful air-cooled motors, which reduces the risk of oil overheating and its inability to retain needed viscosity.
